Convey Group Shortlisted for Two British Conveyancing Awards

Convey Group has been shortlisted for two top awards at the British Conveyancing Awards later this month.

Convey365 Managing Director Lloyd Davies is one of five leading industry figures in the running for the first-ever ‘Today’s Conveyancer Industry Champion’ while the company has also been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Employee Experience’  in recognition of the exemplary support it gave to employees in the last year.

The Employee Experience award also recognises companies who have consistently provided for the wellbeing of their staff and whose company culture reflects these values. Convey Group has just been featured by BBC Wales (February 28) for its employee-friendly hybrid working and remote working policies.

In a year which saw record numbers of conveyancers leave the industry because of the unprecedented challenges of conveyancing during the Pandemic, Convey Group also bucked the national trend and recruited over 60 apprentices alone to the company in 2021. It also consistently provided for staff wellbeing and increased its wellbeing provision.

The Industry Champion category is one of two awards which will be entirely voted for by the conveyancing industry. All nominations were put forward from outside the nominated figures’ own organisations.

Award organisers Today’s Media asked the conveyancing industry who, in their opinion, had contributed to the life and times of the conveyancing sector by producing something extraordinary to support the sector, had put the interests of the industry at the forefront of everything they do, had excelled at a time of transition in the sector and had overcome challenges with minimal disruption to the outcome of their work.

Meanwhile, Convey365’s not-for-profit Conveyancing Foundation will also play a major part in the awards in London on March 15 as its ‘Be Kind We Care’ initiative has been chosen as the official charity partner of the awards ceremony.

‘Be Kind We Care’ was launched in early 2021 to provide practical support and advice for conveyancers under pressure and has garnered support from across the conveyancing, legal and property industries.

The charity was chosen after awards’ organisers were impressed by its principles and aims and its provision of practical advice and resources.

Fundraising at the ceremony will be donated to ‘Be Kind We Care’ which hopes to achieve its first year target of £30,000 by its anniversary in April. It has already raised over £20,000 thanks to the support of its industry sponsors with funds being donated to mental health support charities and initiatives.

Lloyd Davies, who is Chairman of the Conveyancing Foundation as well as former Operations Director of the Conveyancing Association and former Deputy Chair of the Society of Licensed Conveyancers, said:

“I am very proud that the Convey Group has been recognised for its outstanding employee experience and that ‘Be Kind We Care’ has been chosen as the official charity partner of the awards.

“The initiative was launched in response to the stories we were hearing about professionals being unkind to each other as the stress of the pandemic and new working conditions began to take their toll.

“Not only did the Foundation want to reverse this growing trend by encouraging professionals to consider the impact of treating each other harshly but it also wanted to promote wellbeing within the conveyancing, legal and property sectors at a time of unprecedented pressures.”

Lloyd also thanked fellow professionals for putting him forward for the Industry Champion Awards, adding:

“I am honoured to be shortlisted for the Industry Champion award. I would like to thank everyone who kindly put me forward; I am both delighted and humbled to be in such fine company as that of my fellow nominees!”

A public vote has now opened to determine who is crowned on the night at the 2022 awards which will be hosted by BBC journalist Samira Ahmed.
