Job Title: Application Support Engineer (Java/AWS)

About Us

We are a cutting-edge technology startup specializing in AI-driven solutions that revolutionize the conveyancing industry. Our goal is to exceed client expectations through innovative approaches and exceptional service. We value integrity, competence, openness, and benevolence, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture where employees are empowered to grow and succeed.

Our team thrives on a balance of professionalism and fun, hosting regular training, team-building events, and charity initiatives. If you’re looking to join a supportive, forward-thinking company, this opportunity is for you.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Application Support Engineer to join our growing IT and Development teams. This role is critical in bridging the gap between development and operations, focusing on resolving application-level issues, managing bug fixes, and handling feature requests to ensure our developers can focus on core development tasks. You’ll work on maintaining and enhancing systems that power our innovative legal conveyancing solutions, leveraging technologies like Java, AWS, JavaScript, and SQL. This is a great opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools, solve complex problems, and grow your technical expertise in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bug & Feature Request Management: Act as the first line of defense for application-related issues, ensuring timely resolution or escalation to the development team.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Manage monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana) to proactively identify and resolve system and application-level issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Incident Management: Quickly diagnose and resolve system incidents to minimize downtime and user impact.
  • Collaboration with Development Team: Work closely with developers to understand system architecture, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain detailed documentation of processes, tools, and resolutions to enhance team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Immediate System Improvements: Identify and resolve “quick win” issues, such as minor performance bottlenecks or UI/UX bugs, to improve system performance and user experience.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest AWS technologies, Java frameworks, and JavaScript trends, applying new skills to optimize systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript for debugging, scripting, and automation.
    • Strong experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC).
    • Solid understanding of SQL for database querying and troubleshooting.
    • Familiarity with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Grafana, or Datadog.
    • Experience with Linux administration and shell scripting.
  • Support Experience:
    • 1+ years of experience in IT operations, application support, or a related role, preferably in a cloud-based environment.
    • Experience managing tickets and workflows using tools like Jira or similar.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Why Join Us?

We offer a rewarding career with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
  • Generous leave policies, including additional leave for your birthday month.
  • Company sick pay and access to employee discount schemes.
  • Ongoing training, development, and recognition programs.
  • A supportive and fun team environment, with regular collaboration and charity events.
  • Professional Development Support – We believe in fostering growth and will fully support your training and development in AWS and related technologies. This includes access to certification programs of your choosing, online courses, and workshops to advance your expertise and career.

If you’re passionate about technology and eager to contribute to a dynamic, innovative team, we’d love to hear from you!
